Seteais Palace, though now a luxury hotel, offers visitors unrestricted access to its magnificent grounds, often hosting cultural events. This neo-classical gem, erected in 1787 for the Dutch Consul, graces prime land on the outskirts of the Serra de Sintra, commanding breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and township. Its present-day splendour owes much to expansion efforts undertaken in the early 19th century.
Originally acquired by Dom Diogo José Vito de Meneses Noronha Coutinho, the esteemed fifth Marquis of Marialva and Royal Chamberlain, the palace underwent significant renovations under his stewardship. Notably, the east wing was added to the structure. In honour of the esteemed visit of Prince Regent João VI and Princess Carlota Joaquina in 1802, the Marquis commissioned the construction of a grand triumphal arch, embellishing the palace's facade with regal splendour.
